CAESS License Service Manager Help
The CAESS License Service Manager, CaessLMSvcMng.exe, is intended for managing licensing for CAESS applications such as CAESS ProTOp and ProTOpCI. Commands are accessible via the main toolbar and three tab controls: License, Service, and State.
█ The main toolbar
In addition to standard application commands, the main toolbar contains commands for
- viewing the manager log, View manager log ... menu,
- viewing the service log, View service log ... menu, and
- viewing the service activity log (license tokens traffic), View service activity log ... menu.
These commands are available via the File drop-down menu.
█ The License tab
The License tab contains controls for managing licenses. Use the
- Request ... button to open a request dialog in order to request a new license, a license upgrade, or support for eventual license problems.
- Activate ... button to point to the license activation file that was delivered to you by your reseller or CAESS; this loads and activates the license information that was ordered by you.
- Clear ... button to delete current active license information in case of license problems.
The Licenses data grid contains a list of currently active license packs.
█ The Service tab
The Service tab contains controls to manage the license service application CaessLMSvc.exe that handles all CAESS licensing.
To install the service:
- Input the external IP address or a fully qualified name of the license server.
- Select the desired port number in the range from 50000 to 65000.
- Check the use Windows authentication checkbox, if desired.
- Click the Install button to register the service to the Windows operating system.
Once the service is installed, one can use the
- Start button to start the service,
- Stop button to stop the service,
- Identify button to get the name of the service, and
- Uninstall button to uninstall (unregister) the service.
▲ Important
- FIREWALL: after installing the service, make sure to open the firewall for the service application CaessLMSvc.exe. Set the firewall
rule according to your needs. For local (node-locked) licensing the firewall does not need to be adjusted.
- Only IPv4 addresses are acceptable; instead of the IP address, a fully qualified computer name can also be used.
- Make sure that the chosen port number is not used by other applications.
- Windows authentication, if chosen, requires that all clients have corresponding (matching credentials) user accounts on the server machine.
█ The State tab
The State tab contains controls for managing active license tokens as follows.
- Select the row of the desired token and click the Deactivate button to deactivate (free) the token.
- Click the Refresh button to refresh the list of active tokens.
▲ Important
- After the token has been freed, the client application may request and get it back again.
