Mesh refinement within volumes

This dialog handles localized mesh refinement with the aim to improve the mesh and get better optimization results. Typically, free regions with inadequate element sizes need to be addressed and improved.

To refine the mesh ...

1. Select the material regions to be refined by checking the corresponding checkboxes.

2. Click the Analyze button in order to get the refine region mesh data, most importantly, maximal and average element edge lengths.

3. Examine carefully the reported maximal and average edge lengths; enter the refine parameters: edge subdivide threshold and refine region bandwidth. Edges exhibiting a length above the threshold will be subdivided.

length above the threshold

4. Optionally, enter the maximal allowed model increase percentage (a value of zero means there is no limitation).

5. Click the Refine button.

NOTE. Mesh refinement is permanent and can be reversed only by importing the source FEA model again.

IMPORTANT. Mesh refinement might result in slight redistribution of applied loads in some localized regions.
