Licensing
CAESS applications can be licensed in three different modes, as follows:
- EVALUATION mode,
- LOCAL mode, and
- NETWORK mode.
EVALUATION licensing - FREE
In this case the licensing software is not needed, although it is installed automatically for eventual later use. The EVALUATION license has some restrictions:
- Examples up to max 25.000 finite element nodes can be run
- Commercial use is not allowed
Figure. Required software - evaluation licensing scheme
To install and run applications in EVALUATION mode:
- Install the licensing and application software on a chosen machine by selecting the evaluation options wherever applicable
- Run application (the licensing software does not need to be configured and engaged)
LOCAL licensing – node-locked
Licensing software and application software has to be installed on the same (server & client) machine.
Figure. Required software - local licensing scheme
To install and run applications in LOCAL licensing mode:
- Install the licensing and application software on the chosen (server & client) machine
- Use license service manager to request a license
- Use license service manager to activate the license and run the license service
- Run application by using the license tokens provided by the license service
NETWORK licensing – floating
Licensing software has to be installed on the license server machine. Application software has to be installed on all client machines (and optionally on the server).
Figure. Required software - network licensing scheme
To install and run applications in NETWORK licensing mode:
- Install the licensing software on the server machine
- Use license service manager on the server to request a license
- Use license service manager on the server to activate the license and run the license service
- Install the application software on all client machines
- Run application on any client by using the license tokens provided by the license service on the server machine
