License management

An active license pack can be managed by the license service manager in order to:

• monitor and manage currently active license tokens and
• upgrade or clear an active license pack.

Active tokens management

Active tokens are those that are currently in use.

To list and manage active tokens ...

1. Run the license service manager CaessLMSvcMng.exe.

2. Switch to the State tab.

3. If necessary, click the Refresh button to refresh the list of active license tokens.

4. To deactivate an active license token, select the corresponding row and click the Deactivate button.

License upgrade

An active license pack needs an upgrade in cases when any license pack data changes.

IMPORTANT. Do NOT clear the old license before making the upgrade. A clear operation would invalidate the current license and the activation files containing the upgrade.

To upgrade an active license ...

1. Make sure to have at hand the license activation file that was delivered to you by your reseller or CAESS.

2. Run the license service manager CaessLMSvcMng.exe.

3. Make sure that the license service is not in a running state; if it is running, stop it from within the Service tab.

4. Within the License tab click the Upgrade ... button and point to the license activation file.

Clearing the license

The license clear operation is intended only for rare situations as follows.

• Resolving license problems: for some reason the current license pack is faulty and needs to be removed completely.
• The license pack is moved from one server to another.

To clear an active license ...

1. Run the license service manager CaessLMSvcMng.exe.

2. Make sure that the license service is not in a running state; if it is running, stop it from within the Service tab.

3. Select Clear license ... from the File drop-down menu.

WARNING. The license clear operation will irreversibly destroy the license pack and invalide all existing license request and activation files. If a new license is needed, a new request file must be generated after the old license was cleared.
